About Common Crumb
Hi, I’m Christi, Gretchen’s mom.
Gretchen is my sourdough starter, and she deserves most of the credit.
After more failed attempts than I care to admit at “getting started” (yes, I’m keeping the pun), something finally clicked and I fell head over heels.
What started as curiosity turned into a full-blown obsession.
I love the precision of it. I love that there is always something to tweak, test, or improve. I love that no matter how many loaves I bake, it is still a practice, not something you ever fully master.
And honestly, I love that I get to use my hands and pour a little bit of care into something people actually get to enjoy.
Now I bake small batches each week for people who appreciate really good bread.
The only problem is, I make more bread than I can possibly eat.
So if you are buying it, just know you are helping support the obsession.
Gretchen still does most of the work. I just keep her fed.
And I appreciate you for it.
